Fortunately we have park partners who help Haleakala National Park accomplish the many tasks needed to take care of these special resources - check out some of these like The Kipahulu Ohana, The Hawaii Natural History Association, The Nature Conservancy, The Friends of Haleakala National Park, and The East Maui Watershed Partnership. Established in 1916, Haleakala National Park now protects 30,183 acres of land on the island of Maui. Within the park 24,719 acres are designated as a Wilderness Area and this land is managed under the Wilderness Act of 1964. |
